Today, we remember Matteo, a devoted husband and father, a sailor, a sportsman, and above all, a true friend.
Over the past ten years, we sailed together as Team Ceeref Vaider for more than 300 days, and every moment was an adventure filled with laughter, camaraderie, and shared experiences. As a bowman, Matteo was always at the front, ensuring that we were in the right place at the right time, meticulously managing our timing and distance, and making sure the boat was perfectly positioned on the starting line. His dedication and precision were unmatched, and it was his keen sense of timing that set us up for success in every race.
Outside of sailing, Matteo was a man of boundless passion for sports. During regattas, when the sails were down and the boat was at rest, he could often be found on his bicycle, taking to the roads and exploring new paths. He lived for the thrill of the ride, always pushing his limits, always searching for the next challenge. His love for adventure didn’t stop there; he was also an avid skier, finding joy in the mountains and snow.
It was in the mountains, doing what he loved, where Matteo’s life was tragically cut short. In an avalanche, he was taken from us too soon, leaving behind a void that will never be filled. Matteo’s spirit, however, will live on in the memories we shared, in the moments when we sailed together, when he’d cycle past with a grin, and in the laughter that filled the boat on long journeys.
To those who knew Matteo, it was clear that he embraced life fully. He faced every challenge with a smile, and his zest for life was contagious. Whether on the boat, on his bike, or on the slopes, Matteo was always living in the moment, always striving to be better, and always inspiring those around him to do the same.
We will miss him deeply, but we are forever grateful for the time we had together. Matteo will always have a place in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to guide us as we sail forward in life, just as he once ensured we were always at the right place at the right time.
Rest in peace, Matteo. You will never be forgotten.
